Flavia Martinelli

Flavia Martinelli is Full Professor of Analysis of Territorial Systems at the 'Mediterranean' University of Reggio Calabria, Italy, where she has been teaching since 1989. She has got a Ph.D. degree in City and Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley (USA) in 1986. Her scientific work focuses on regional development and policy, with particular attention to the problems of lagging regions, especially the Mezzogiorno of Italy. Her approach is multidisciplinary, evolutionary and systemic, linking economic issues with social and political structures, in a historical perspective.
