Frank Moulaert

Frank Moulaert is Professor of European Planning and Development at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). Till September 2002 he was Professor of Economics at the University of Science and Technology (Lille, France). His scientific research that started in 1973 covers a wide array of areas relevant to DEMOLOGOS: macro-economics and economic policy, international migration, regional economics, urban and regional development, spatial planning, methodology of social science.



Recent EU Funded Projects:

He has had a long experience in EU funded research. He is coordinator of the following ongoing Framework Programme projects:

  • SINGOCOM, FP 5 project on 'Social Innovation and Governance in Urban Communities'. This project seeks to build a model for the analysis and promotion of social innovation in governance at the neighbourhood level in European cities. The research will finish in 2004 and covers case-studies in 6 European countries.
  • VALICORES, FP 5 valorisation project seeking to valorise the links between innovative strategies of consulting firms and public research institutions at various spatial levels. The research builds on the results of 12 projects funded by FP 4 and 5. Valorisation will be pursued through the organization of workshops and the production of synthesis documents showing the value-added of the 12 projects.
